Established in 2016 this family owned business specializes in vintage furs. Our services include an ever flourishing Fur Hire collection, renting out carefully selected pieces for those unforgettable occasions in the Wanaka, Queenstown and Southern Lakes, be it a wedding or a winter ball, these statement pieces ensure you look and feel glamorous while keeping you luxuriously warm.

Our History

Makarora Fur Co. started as a passion for furs and has naturally grown into a home-based family business, based in a small township in New Zealand’s mountainous South Island.

Our Expertise

We have over 30 years experience between us in seeing, handling and dealing with furs. with a large amount of that time dealing with higher end furs not normally seen in New Zealand. We have had the pleasure of meeting and interacting with some of the older highly skilled furriers who have now passed on. What  gained from them was their passion and attention to detail, and we now try to reflect in your own fur collections.

Our Commitment

We appreciate the fine craftsmanship of the furrier who transforms, into garments of beauty, the highly prized resource our ancestors recognized as the ultimate fibre for providing warmth. This is where our ethics kick in and on our site we will not knowingly offer anything but vintage.

 

Our Fur Hire section showcases the collection of beautiful pieces we have available. Due to our rural location is at this time only available in the Wanaka, Queenstown + southern lakes, and beyond.
